New Mississippi Records release! The material was recorded in 1976, and released later in the decade with under the name William Robertson, for fear that Barfield would be recognized by folks he didn't want to know what we was up to. He has a unique, guttural vocal style, really getting it all out there with feeling and raw emotion, to the point that the words are obscured -- and the emotions are anything but obscure. He's an exceptional rural acoustic blues guitarist, too, nothing pretty or precise, just the right, raw sound for the material.
