The Fall

This Nations Saving Grace

One of the quintessentially English post-punk bands, the Fall have released over 27 studio albums, and more than triple that counting live albums and other releases. Dearly departed BBC DJ John Peel, who championed them from early on in their career, cited The Fall as his favourite band, famously explaining, "They are always different; they are always the same." Produced by John Leckie This Nat-ion's Saving Grace was originally released in 1985, and is frequently cited as one of the groupʼs finest. The band on this release consisted of Mark E. Smith/ Brix Smith -vox, v, gtr/ Craig Scanlon -gtr/ Steve Hanley -bass/ Simon Rogers -keys, gtr, bass. It ranked at #46 in Spinʼs "100 Greatest Albums 1985-2005" and was awarded the rare accolade of 10.0/10 by Pitchfork.
