Maybe you've looked through dollar bins or garage sales, seen some record with a pretty, but crazy-eyed looking woman on the cover, a name you can't pronounce. And maybe you imagine how great the record could be. This is what you imagined. Sarolta Zalatnay, of Hungary, recorded these unbelievably killer songs in the 1970s, her edgy, slightly driven but so smooth voice resting atop these heavy funk/psych cuts, buzzing guitar, butterfly-winged flute, hotshot drumming. All of Marianne Faithful's smoky sexuality, the snap/crack rhythms of Stax/Volt and an Eastern European otherworldliness that gives the whole album a drugged out, mystical charm. Excellent gatefold sleeve, liner notes, audiophile vinyl. UK import.
